Okariz is a small village with 44 inhabitants, located in Araba. During the Carnival Sunday a masked group of about 20 people goes house by house asking for money or food. They use the collected money to pay a nice dinner for everybody. The main feature of the carnival of Okariz is that "porreros” are completely silent. No music, no songs, or other standard revelry of the carnival is shown. The porreros gather in silence and go from house to house without speaking, communicating through signs, causing some kind of anxiety.
