Recording of the beginning of the Axeri dantza (fox dance) made during the carnival saturday morning, in Hernani. Even being a traditional carnival event , this dance is also usually interpreted in summer. The txistulari band plays the traditional repertoire of the day, consisting of 3 pieces (Axeri dantza, Idiyarenak 1 Idiyarenak 2), some with changing rhythms, that pushes a group of 15 dancers. The dancers, joined by a long rope and using dry calf bladders, go around the streets, appearing and disappearing through the doors of the houses, trying to surprise the audience in order to beat them hardly. The sound of beating resonates in a very special way in the narrow streets of the old town of Hernani.
