Lesaka - Jota and fandango

The zaku-zahar (old bag) is one of the most beloved characters of the ancient cultural traditions are kept alive in Lesaka. During Carnival Sunday, the young men dress in sacks filled with dry grass, and with his face covered with a scarf, scare their neighbors and mairus (another traditional character) beating them with dried bladders. This recording shows the group of zaku-zahar dancing a traditional jota and a fandango, interpreted by the official Marching band from Lesaka.
