Lesaka - Lesakako Inauteriak

Sunday is a special day during carnivals in Lesaka. The zaku-zahar (old sack) is one of the most beloved characters known in the ancient cultural traditions alive in this town. Young people dress in sacks filled with dry grass, and with his face covered with a scarf, scare their neighbors, mairus (another traditional character) and visitors beating them with dried bladders. Meanwhile, the Music marching band plays Plus Ultra (also known as Lesakako Inauteriak, unkown composer, and arrangements by Santiago Irigoien). Photo: dantzan
